We regret to inform our KVC ohana that we no longer have our large, stand alone, full service mobile hospital. During the recent months Dr. Leaper has become increasingly busy and works hard to help as many furry patients as possible. While extremely rewarding and beneficial mobile veterinary calls limit the number of patients he can help in a day. Over the recent months our limited mobile availability has left our state of the art hospital under utilized.
Like most things here on Maui, some things were just meant to be and a wonderful veterinarian on Oahu approached us and asked if we would be willing to sell the mobile hospital to her and her young family so they may use it to start building their own practice. It is our sincere hope that the hospital (affectionately named “Ethel” by Dr. Dale) will provide her the environment she needs to help many pets in her own community.
So what does this mean for our KVC ohana? While we still offer mobile services we are unable to perform mobile advanced diagnostics and mobile surgical procedures without the full service hospital. Our goal is to continue to provide in home care for basic veterinary needs and most importantly, end of life and hospice care.
Every step of your pet’s care is important, but arguably the most important moment is when we say goodbye. If we have the option to make their passing less stressful and more comfortable by being in their own home we will always do everything we can to prioritize those calls for help.
|Services we can provide on mobile||Services no longer provided on mobile|
|Preventative care||Surgical Procedures|
|Yearly physical exams||Procedures requiring sedation|
|Chronic conditions monitoring||Orthopedic exams|
|Hospice care and End of life services|
It is important to note that we still offer full service mobile farm visits with Dr. Christie Balcomb. These changes do not affect our ability to see our farm patients!
Please know that we will be prioritizing our current mobile veterinary care for pets requiring hospice care above all others at this time until more appointments are available. If you have any questions about our mobile services and whether or not your pets specific issues can be scheduled for a mobile appointment please do not hesitate to call us and speak with a veterinary technician. We can help evaluate your needs and guide you in best options for you and your furry family member.
